SewingGem.com.au
Sewing Gem was founded by Gemma Thebault in 2018 — starting small from her garage with an online shop selling fabric and haberdashery. What began as a humble side project has grown into one of Australia's most recognised sewing retailers, trusted by thousands of passionate sewers across the country.

But Gemma always had a second dream: to open a sewing school. With a background as a classroom teacher before her children came along, she brings a rare combination of genuine teaching expertise and deep sewing passion to every class. She has a gift for breaking down complex skills into manageable, confidence-building steps — making sewing accessible and enjoyable for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned makers.
Sewing Club Podcast
Gemma is also the co-host of the Sewing Club Podcast, which she produces alongside Kylie Brulé of Kylie and the Machine. Together they share pattern reviews, techniques, and sewing wisdom with thousands of listeners worldwide. You can listen on many platforms - Spotify, Apple, wherever you get your podcasts.
At home
When she's not teaching, podcasting, or running the business, Gemma loves spending time with her husband and two young children — and can usually be found in her home sewing room, steadily working through her ever-growing list of makes.
