Meet Gemma

Gemma Thebault brings a unique blend of teaching expertise and sewing passion to every class. As a former primary school teacher, she understands how to break down complex skills into manageable steps, making sewing accessible to everyone.

After launching Sewing Gem from her garage in 2018, Gemma has grown the business into a thriving community hub for sewists. She continues to learn and explore new techniques, always seeking to improve her craft and teaching.

Together with Kylie Brule from Kylie and the Machine, Gemma co-hosts the Sewing Club Podcast, sharing pattern reviews, techniques, and sewing wisdom with thousands of listeners worldwide.

When not teaching, podcasting, or running her business, Gemma enjoys time with her husband and two young children, and can often be found in her home sewing room working through her "never-ending list of makes."

"I believe everyone can learn to sew with the right guidance and encouragement. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to try, make mistakes, and ultimately succeed."
