Join us to create a stylish elasticated waist skirt. The Pocket Skirt by Peppermint Magazine (with Paper Theory Patterns) is a fantastic beginner-friendly project that will boost your confidence and have you walking away in something you made yourself. You’ll learn essential garment-making skills, including: 📐 Taking measurements and cutting a pattern 📄 Following and using sewing pattern instructions 🪡 Creating an elasticated waistband casing 🧶 Threading and securing elastic for the perfect fit ✂️ Hemming for a polished finish 🧵 Finishing seams 🧷 Using an overlocker for durability and a professional touch To enrol in this course it is recommended that you have either completed the First Stitches - A Beginners Guide To Sewing course or possess a basic working knowledge of using a sewing machine. We offer a course kit that includes carefully selected fabric (with a few options to choose from), matching thread, and elastic, available for purchase. However you may decide to bring your own supplies rather than purchase the class kit here’s what you’ll need: Fabric scissors Seam ripper Pins 3.8cm wide waistband elastic (approx. 2 metres) Matching thread Fabric (ideally a linen or equally stable fabric) Fabric Requirements For fabrics that are approximately 115 cm wide, you will need 2–3 metres, depending on the size you are making. If you choose a wider fabric (around 150 cm), you will need 1.5–2 metres. As the exact amount can vary with the size, please feel free to email me with your measurements, and I’ll confirm the precise requirement for your project. 🚗 Parking Street parking is available on the roads surrounding the building. Unfortunately we are unable to park on the forecourt as this is shared with other companies. 🧵Please note that access to the teaching space involves stairs. If you'd like assistance carrying your machine to the classroom, just let us know we’re happy to help.
